Freedom Time is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, organized touring companies of the Underground Railroad in the world. Founded in 1988, the company has conducted hundreds of tours of the Underground Railroad in Washington, Maysville, and Augusta, Kentucky and Ripley, Ohio.

This historic tour of the Underground Railroad covers a forty-mile radius. In addition, Freedom Time provides guided tours to Canada. Freedom Time also provides research, consultation and dynamic interaction presentations and exhibits of the history of Africa, slavery and the Underground Railroad.

It has provided major presentations in Boston and New Bedford, MA; New York, NY; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, PA; Chicago, Il; Cincinnati, Columbus and Ripley, OH; Dallas and Denton, TX; Orlando, FL; Charleston, SC; Knoxville, TN; Langston, OK; San Bernadino and Riverside, CA. We have also been honored to present in Frankfort, Georgetown, Hopkinsville, Lexington, Louisville, Maysville, Mount Sterling, Paris, and Winchester, Kentucky.

Freedom Time's clientele includes some of the following: Actor, Danny Glover, National Park Service, Parks Canada, Ohio Friends of Freedom Society, National Millennium Trail, National Underground Network to Freedom Program, federal judges and attorneys, The History Channel, Kentucky Educational TV, Maysville Community College, Morehead State University, North Texas State University, University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville.. The New Bedford Historical Society, Kentucky Historical Society, Fleming County Kentucky Historical Society, Rowan County Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky African American Heritage Commission. In addition, our clientele includes over 100 elementary, middle and secondary schools throughout the United States. We provide our services to numerous churches, civic and public organizations throughout the country. We have been blessed to provide tours for students from Brazil, Germany and Ireland.

Historic Old Washington, Kentucky

See as did Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, the slave market square where enslaved Africans were sold away from family and friends for shipment to plantations further South.

An early Kentucky town and busy stop for 19th century traffic along the Ohio River, and Home of the first National Museum established and dedicated to chronicle and study the Underground Railroad movement.

John Rankin House, Ripley, OH - Home of Presbyterian abolitionist John Rankin, and safe haven for runaway slaves traveling on the Underground Railroad.

Historic Ripley, Ohio

Cross the chilly Jordan, the Ohio River, leading to Freedom Land, to visit the John Rankin House and John P. Parker House. Home of two of the most daring conductors on the Underground Railroad. These men conducted over 3,000 slaves on their journey to freedom.
